notes : i believe this song is actually played tuned a whole step down , in which case the
d’s would all be fingered as standard tuning open e’s , etc . for those of us who would
rather simply tune down the E – string and play it in drop D , the chords will be laid out as such .

also , whenever you sit on the D during the verses , you can mimic the bass line by playing
0 – 2 – 0 on the a string . if you listen to the song , you should get a feel for what i’m
referring to . for the “i’m simple” verse , you can slide up to the bar chord D to make it
sound like the recording .

the intro sequence is also the chorus and basically involves hitting the bass note
( low E string ) followed by an upstroke on the highest note of the chord for each
new chord . just remember that the chorus starts on the Gadd9 instead of on the D .
